| Warrington Junior Academy vs Bury
Warrington Junior Academy enjoys good win against Bury.
Warrington 29 - Bury 0
Warrington's U17s continued their excellent start to the season on a hot
Autumn day at Walton Lea Road. Bury started brightly and it was clear
that their forward pack is one of the stronger 8s in this league. It took a
drop goal from captain Newans to break the deadlock and this after 15
minutes of
fiercely competitive rugby. Once again Warrington's electric back division
were the ones to finally cross the whitewash, with Miller going over in the
corner. As the Warrington pack began to find some parity, they were able to
exert more pressure on the Bury defence and following some strong running
Newans was able to score the first of his brace of tries. Bury remained
committed through out the game and a very physical fixture was played in a
fantastic spirit, with both teams retaining good discipline.
In the second half, Warrington scored two more tries, through Miller and
Newans, however Bury were unfortunate not to register a score and were held
up over the line on three separate occasions. All round this was a great
game of rugby played by two strong teams who showed great credit to their
respective clubs. From Warrington's perspective, they go into the weather
weekend with a 100% record, but also with the knowledge that there are many
areas of improvement to be worked on in training.
