In the second game Warrington came across Widnes for the second time in the competition. Playing on what seemed like a smaller pitch than they were used too giving the much larger Widnes pack a distinct advantage by not having to move very far from the action.
It was a very close game for the first 15 minutes until Warrington scored in the corner due to some poor tackling from the Widnes winger, at the restart Widnes piled on the pressure with some good kicks to touch near the Warrinton line going over at one point only to be ruled that the ball was held up, this attack continued until finally they crossed the line with some 5 minutes to play, as Widnes needed to win all their games to continue in the competition the ball was soon back at the center spot for the kick off. Warrington were ready for the attack putting up a sterling defence, getting ever nearer to the Widnes line, had the players been more observant as too who was where, the game could have been out of reach, but every time the ball was taken back into the action for recycling, with just 2 minutes to go the Warrington scrum half called a move and after some hard work Joe went over to win the match.
