Ladies Are Up And Running
Warrington
RUFC's Ladies Rugby team is now officially up-and-running,
following a very successful first taster session. The
session, which took place on Wednesday 31st May, was
led by Warrington's community coach Peter Allen, fresh
from his Twickenham success the previous Monday with
the Cheshire side which won the County Championship
Shield.
Assisted by Dave Nichols, Warrington's coaching co-ordinator,
Peter took the ladies though a number of drills to sharpen
up passing and positional awareness in an enjoyable
two hour introduction to the game. As Natasha Corns,
the driving force behind this exciting new development
at Walton Lea Road commented, "This was a completely
new experience for many of the girls and it was amazing
to see how quickly they adapted. Quite a few of them
said afterwards that they would be bringing friends
down to the next session, so we should soon start to
see the numbers increase."
Such was the success of the taster session that it
has been decided that regular training sessions will
now take place every Wednesday at Warrington Sports
Club, beginning at 6.30 p.m. Any one interested will
be made very welcome and can just turn up on the night
or contact Natasha on 07955428861.
