| Warrington 2nd XV- 38 - Broughton Park 3rd XV- 12
Warrington second string progressed to the next round of the cup after seeing off a strong and committed Broughton Park side. Warrington always had the upper hand in this game, in which many individuals produced excellent performances. Warrington's pack again pushed the opposition all over the park, with man of the match Tickle excelling in the front row. The other two members of the front row, Graham and Haddon ran all day and the latter almost scored a 50 yard try but was pulled down at the last minute. The Warrington line out again functioned well, with Hughes and the shorter Kerai winning plenty of clean ball. Tries came from Leah, Flint, Higham, Mullen and Skipper Turner.
Warrington welcomed back Rockey and Mullen after long lay off with injuries and also stand off McDermott who returned from a self inflicted absence. Griffiths jnr was again controlling affairs from full back and his boot was again vital as he slotted two touchline kicks. Griffiths snr made a much anticipated return to rugby after coming out of retirement to play the last 20 minutes. He was almost rewarded with a try late on in the game, but was held up 5 yards out.
Warrington return to league rugby next week with a home game against Oldershaw. Coach Coleman said " Saturday was a great win, however we must tackle lower and with more committment if we are to see off Oldershaw. However, the morale is high in the camp and selection may be difficult with lots of players hitting form"
