Warrington 2nd XV - 45pts - Fleetwood 2nd XV- 7pts        

Warrington 2nd team move into third place in the league after a comprehensive win against a spirited Fleetwood team. Warrington were always on the front foot and again the forwards laid the platform to allow the backs to run rampant. The scorers on the day were Flint with 2, West with 2, McDermott, Tierney and Matt Rockey. Dan Griffiths kicked well for goal all afternoon, while his father Phil playing a full game at prop deservedly got the man of the match award. However, Kerai, Hartill and Rickard pushed him close for the honour.

The scrums and line outs functioned well all afternoon and this meant that McDermott was able to use his clever kicking game to push the Warrington team forward all afternoon. Hughes and Tierney dominated in the line outs and stole 50% of Fleetwood’s  ball.

Warrington played with the bare 15 due to unavailability’s and all credit must go to Ross Leah who played 60 minutes of the game with a hamstring pull. The game demonstrated Warrington’s ability to keep the ball alive and to off load at the point of contact.

Coach Stewart Coleman said after the game “ This was a festival of running rugby, where both teams came to enjoy themselves with ball in hand. We will have more  players back next week but they must work hard if they are to oust the lads who played on Saturday”
