Warrington 2nd XV - 20 - Lymm 3rd XV - 3

Warrington 2nd team continue to climb up the league with another emphatic and clinical win over local rivals Lymm. The game was played in a good spirit, which was helped by an understanding referee. Warrington's pack again laid the foundations early on, with skipper Turner controlling a 5 metre scrum for a well deserved opening score. Young forwards Haddon, Tierney, Tickle and Hughes tackled and ran hard all day, with the ever improving Kerai making his tackles felt. From a close range lineout Warrington again showed their forward domination with a well controlled rolling maul, which resulted in Haddon touching down. This is now the fifth consecutive game from which Warrington have scored from their rolling mauls. Griffiths converted the try and later added a penalty with his ever reliable boot. Geritas at centre punched holes in the middle as he made time and space for man of the match Ryan Mullen who suppoted all day.

In the second half, gaps began to open up and the ever supporting Hughes came into his own, backing up a break and touching down out wide. Warrington had the luxury of bringing on 5 second half subs all of whom contributed, mainly veteran Mullen who showed some of his rugby league technique in the tackle situations. Ross Leah continues to impress on the wing and will surely be a great prospect for the future.

Coach Stewart Coleman said after the game " This was a great result and a great performance against a competative Lymm side. We showed a lot of patience in most areas of the pitch, as we highlighted before the game that patience and discipline will win us the game. I am really proud of the lads, we have a great mixture of youth and experience"

Warrington 2nd team play Sale FC 2nd XV in the 4th round of the cup at home on Saturday.
