| Marple 2nd XV- 5pts - Warrington XV- 14pts
Warrington 2nd team got themselves back into winning ways with a tough and gritty performance against a much changed Marple team that Warrington had beaten earlier in the season.
Warrington played into a strong wind in the first half and allowed Marple to scramble a early try. The excellent defensive work of Hughes and West kept the Marple attack at bay, Warrington always realising that the wind would play an important role come the second half. This was the case as Warrington were rewarded with three penalties which Mc Dermott and Griffiths slotted over. Warrington continued to apply the pressure and with five minutes remaining winger Hamblett intercepted a pass and ran 45 yards to score out wide.
Mullen again looked impressive on the wing and continually found gaps in the defence.
Warrington play Vale of Lune at home on Saturday.
Coach Stewart Coleman said after the game “ This was a game which showed the grit and determination of this team. There are only two games left for the boys to stake their claim for a place in the cup semi-final squad “
