| Warrington 2nd XV- 24 - Tyldesley 2nd XV- 7
Warrington 2nd team went above Tyldesley in the league after this superb win which displayed all of the skills of the ever improving second string. Warrington were able to field a very stong squad of 18 players; all of whom got a game.
The game began badly for Warrington when an ambitous pass was intercepted by the opposition 13 who went under the sticks after 5 minutes. The try was converted and Warrington found themselves 7-0 down after 5 minutes. However, the experience of Mullen at 10 soon steadied the ship and Warrington began to create plenty of opportunities, they should have scored 2 tries straight away but a lack of patience led to the tries being bombed. However the barnstorming runs of Flint from centre soon laid the foundations for Tickle and Flint himself to score well taken tries. Griffiths converted one and got a penalty to bring Warrington well and truly back into the game.
Man of the match Jones, along with his front partners of Tickle and Haddon destroyed the opposition front row and certainly laid the platform for Hartill to set his backs running. Hughes, jumping in the line out, never lost a throw on his own ball and he was able to snaffle 25% of Tyldesley's line out ball. With 25 minutes remaining, Warrington brought on Mullen Jnr ( the 2nd father/ son combination of the season!!) at centre. Matt Rockey put Mullen into the holes and he had soon clocked up two excellent tries. All in all this was a great display of rugby against a very strong Tyldesley team who had beaten Warrington earlier in the season. Coach Coleman said after the game, "We showed great team spirit and great determination to push ourselves up the table. We should have been a little more patient at important times of the match, however a win is a win, especially against a strong Tyldesely team."
On Saturday Warrington play Sale FC 2nd XV in a cup game at home.
