Waterloo 3rd v Warrington 2nd
8 - 15 W

Waterloo 3rd's - 8pts - Warrington 2nd's - 15pts

Warrington won this hard fought game against a very strong Waterloo team. In a game which had four seasons in one game, the elements always dictated the type of rugby that would be played. Warrington played with the wind behind them and were soon rewarded with an early penalty which was slotted over by McDermott. Warrington struggled to play their typical free flowing rugby in the conditions of hail and wind. However Griffiths managed to step and barge his way over the try line after 30 minutes. When the teams turned round after half time, Warrington were playing into a gale and found it hard to clear their lines. Waterloo soon scored a well taken try out wide. Warrington then scored a push over try through Wheatley which put Warrinhgton well ahead. Kerai and Wheatley tackled well from the back row and strong runs came from West and Griffiths, altough the latter had to leave the pitch with an injured ankle.

Coach Stewart Colemman said after the game "we struggled to do the basics well today, although all credit to Waterloo who counter rucked well and spoiled clean ball for us."
