Warrington Community Coach
Warrington RUFC working in conjunction with the RFU have appointed Richard Marshall to the position of Community Rugby Coach for the Warrington area. Richard will be responsible for promoting rugby union at all levels. He will report to Dave Livesey the Rugby Development Officer for Cheshire in a post which is jointly funded by the Rugby Football Union and Warrington RUFC.
Richard is currently working through out the Warrington area promoting the game at every level. He is particularly active in schools and is developing especially strong links with Bridgewater. He also very busy coaching in primary schools in preparation for the Warrington primary schools’ tag festival which will take place at Warrington RUFC on the following dates:
21 November 2008 - Planet Sport- all Warrington schools to complete in 5 different activities which the club provides. I will be running the Rugby session, other sports are encouraged to provide activities, this venture will promote the club and it's facilities - 12 pm- 3.30pm
Located at Warrington RUFC, in Walton Lea Rd, Richard is more than enthusiastic about the challenges and opportunities ahead. As he comments, “This is a brand new venture which is set to increase the visibility of rugby union in the area. More importantly, it will seek to raise the level of opportunity for young people and adults to learn, coach and participate in the game of rugby union.
Warrington RUFC have already made great inroads in the development of junior rugby at Walton Lea Road, with upwards of 150 children involved every Sunday morning and I believe that they have shown great foresight in committing themselves wholeheartedly to this project.”
