U14s - Warrington 15pts - Caldy 7pts
In the Car on the way to today's match, I overheard one of the lads say "Today a champion will be defeated" As he said it my stomach turned as the match was to be possibly one of Warrington's hardest of the season, he obviously forgot about the possibilty of a draw. From the start the tackles went in as planned, the lads moving up quick, disrupting play, as a result balls were dropped, alowing warrington to gain possession only to find that excellent rucking and scrumming by Caldy allowed them to regain possion and mount credable attacks, which were only stopped by some equally excellant tackling "at last they are listening at training" the first 15 minutes saw most of the play between Warringtons and Caldys 20 yard line, finally Warrington went over in the corner only to miss the conversion, Caldy came back after the kick off fired up looking to equal or better it, but the lads commitment and effert paid off and Caldy were unsuccessfull at crossing the line, Just before the close of the 1st half Warrington went over again under the sticks this time the conversion was successful,
The Second half started with both teams fired up, with some good defence and attacks from both teams, after several minutes Caldy scored 10 yards in and with the conversion taken were within 5 points. At the restart Warrington had a good kick and chase attacking well which finally paid off with a penalty giving us another 3 points, meaning Caldy had to score twice in what time was left, finally the last play was called and dispite a good attack by Caldy moving the ball across field, the ball was lost and kicked into touch.
final score Warrington 15 - Caldy 7
A thank you goes out to Caldy who were able to save the game as Warringtons ground was unplayable due to the rain.
