U14 ORMSKIRK 0 - WARRINGTON 42
Warrington eased into the knock-out stages of the Lancashire cup with a comfortable win at Ormskirk. Warrington, holders of the trophy, were in no mood to relinquish their title and soon opened the scoring through Rob Jones.
With no matches for at least 4 weeks Warrington went into the game with only their training sessions to give them match fitness, both teams started off making the same silly errors which were picked up by the ref and were rightly penalised; Warrington when they finally managed to move the ball as we have come to expect did so with pin point accuracy picking up players and their supporting runners allowing for some very fast open rugby, the forwards managed to recycle the ball well in the rucks clearing out well and on several occasions often putting into practice the moves and techniques learnt in the Gym and field training sessions. Throughout the game there were several charge downs which put pressure back on the opposition to clear the ball, giving Warrington the opportunity to gain precious ground and to mount more pressure, As mentioned above, the support play was excellent, on several occasions the presence of the supporting runners afforded Warrington a try as the ball was able to be offloaded quickly before a credible defence was able to be mounted.
Other tries soon followed through Matt Fleming (2), and one a piece for John Morris, Christian Tighe, Dan Abram, Elliot Macintosh, and Joel Barker. Warrington eased into the knock-out stages of the Lancashire cup with a comfortable win at Ormskirk.
