U14 - Warrington - Stoke
After rearranging the Stoke match to be played away, giving up home advantage and a need to get up so earlier, it was with a heavy heart that I read the text from Conrad stating that the match was off due to the weather, ruining the best laid plans
Undeterred Darren sprung into action knocking on doors "not literally" and was able to arrange access to the on site gym for an hour or so, allowing the players to gain a psychological advantage over their peers just as Daily Thompson did all those years ago by training on Christmas day, whilst the other teams in the area and possible future opposition were still in bed or watching match of the day 2.
After a hard session using the weights and cardiovascular equipment, they emerged to find that the snow had not all melted and proceeded to pelt the waiting parents and each other for another 1/2 hour, if last Friday during training again in the snow and rain if we had suggested rolling around for fun as they did today I am sure the response would not be pleasant.
Maybe one day this year we we'll be able to play a home game, as at the moment the grounds man is getting off lightly
