U16s Warrington 15 v Southport 12 Lancashire Cup 09

Under 16's Lancashire Cup - Warrington 15 vs Southport 12

Following a convincing win the last time these two met Warrington were expecting a comfortable outing but they were in for shock. A much improved Southport came with determination and passion and the belief that they could take victory.

Warrington took the lead with a Andrew "Wrighty" ty try after just five minutes, Southport replied with a converted try; shortly before the interval Taylor Wheat made fantastic interception to place under the sitcks and give Wrighty a simple kick. In the second half Warrington's disipline caused them unecessary pressure and with a man short they did well to camp inside the Southport 22.

Not for the first time this season the Warrington defence proved inpenitrable and was almost certaily the match winner in a tough well balanced game. In the last minute of the game Warrington were awarded a penalty a good 22 yards out ,which Wrighty converted as the match winner. There were several good performances, Wrighty, Arnie Millington, Ellis Britton, Matt Lawton, & Josh Cutter. Man of the match went to the well deserving Taylor Wheat.
