U10’s Warrington 40 v Stoke U10’s 35
Thankfully the weather relented and the pitch was playable, we made our long awaited (3 years) debut fixture against Stoke.
3 x 15 minute games which gave all the squad ample time on the pitch and allowed for plenty of substitutions.
All three games were close affairs with Warrington coming out on top 3-2 in the first two games and losing 4-3 in the 3rd, a 9 tries to 8 aggregate win.
We welcomed Brandon Ash for his debut, Brandon making his first appearance in the 2nd game and making a good impression with his willingness to offload the ball quickly (something we will be working on in training over the coming weeks). Needless to say his new pristine kit was unrecognisable after the game.
Game One - Our squad was pitched against a similarly combative Stoke 9 who had a very good captain who appeared from nowhere every time their line was threatened. We managed a 3-2 win with good attacking rugby, tries from Tom Mc (2) and Will.
Game Two – We swapped the team around and came up with another win, this is testimony to the strength in depth of the squad. Tries from Harry (taking out most their defence and the corner flag in the process), Charlie (an opportunist dive over the line onto a free ball) and Tom Mc (jinking his way over).
Game Three – A casualty strewn game. We lost many of the boys to knocks during this game which was a real pity as a whitewash was on the cards. We tried to mix the team up and things were looking good when Cam & Will went over for a 2-1 lead, however the squad had to be rotated and I think we lost a bit of momentum eventually losing out the odd try in 7. A great performance by all concerned.
A fantastic performance by every single member of the squad in cold, wet conditions.
