Warrington 2nd XV 29pts - Liverpool St Helens 3rd XV 12pts

In a fairly scrappy game Warrington ran out comfortable winners with a 5-try bonanza. First on the scoreboard was winger Dobbs from a simple feed from Hartill from a set piece in midfield. The industrious White reaped just benefit from his efforts when he picked up from the back of a scrum and powered his way over for the second try. McDermott converted. Though the visitors also managed a try to make it 12-5 at the interval, the result was never in doubt after a blindside break early in the second half from Farrell put winger McElroy in for Warrington’s third.

The burly Lewin claimed the honours under the sticks for the fourth when Warrington’s front row club lead a powerful drive to the line. McDermott again converted. In the closing minutes the youthful McElroy put the icing on the cake with an interception on his own 22 metre line and a superb 70 yard sprint for the touchdown.
