Warrington’s second string could find no answer to the all-round strength of the current league leaders. However, their main problem was an inability to execute the basics, an inability which saw them leak three tries, two of which were converted in the first twenty minutes.

The second half saw a significant improvement and Warrington were unlucky not to score on three separate occasions. Unfortunately, Burnage eventually rediscovered their first half form and managed another three touch-downs. McDermott was the pick of the backs for Warrington, while Hughes constantly tried to work his magic in the forwards.
