Warrington’s second string was well beaten in this entertaining game at Walton Lea on Saturday but they maintained pressure on a strong Sefton side until the final whistle, especially through Tickle in the set scrums and Hughes in the loose.

Warrington opened the scoring in the first quarter with a well –struck Hamblett penalty. Sefton replied with a penalty of their own but then increased their lead just before half time when their left wing chased a kick from a breakdown on the left hand side of the pitch to touch down near the post and allow an easy conversion.

The home side put up ,a manly defence in the second half but Sefton kicked another penalty before closing out the match when they rumbled over from short range.
