Warrington 2nd 24 - Winnington Park 3rd 12

Warrington effectively ended this game as a contest by half time with a 21 point blitz in the first period but they still kept the highlight of the game for the second half which saw a 54 yard penalty kick from Sean McDermott, which stunned everyone, including Sean McDermott..

Brian Hayes opened Warrington’s account with a silky finish following some sterling forward play. Duncan Rickard then increased the lead when he jinked over after a quick tap penalty and Paul Chedd completed Warrington’s try scoring when he surged over the line following a line out and good work from Chris White.

The second half developed into a war of attrition, with the Park stand-off cleverly deciding to play a kicking game. This provided the visitors with two tries, with Warrington’s only reply being McDermott’s long-range effort.

Outstanding for Warrington were Cosgrove and Yoxhall, while new recruit Wainwright showed promise.
