Sandbach 3rd XV 19 - Warrington 3rd XV 12

Warrington’s third team acquitted themselves honourably against a strong Sandbach side in a performance which brought plaudits from the home spectators and the referee. Unfortunately, they could not recover from a first half Sandbach blitz and eventually lost by a one-try margin.

Sandbach dominated the first period through their forwards and turned round 16 points ahead.

However, Warrington came back strongly, inspired by their spirited front five, where Dave Upton was outstanding. Their endeavour was rewarded when Kyle Carter pounced on a clever grubber kick from Ben Bray to touch down in the corner. They closed the gap further when they were awarded a penalty try under the Sandbach posts after Paddy Err was impeded. Lesley converted. Unfortunately, Sandbach kicked a late penalty to close off the game.
