Warrington 3rd XV 19 - Liverpool St Helens 3rd XV 10

Warrington’s stalwart 3rd string flew the flag heroically in achieving the club’s sole win of the weekend. A try from winger Nichols gave Warrington a well-deserved early lead with the multi-talented Carter, at stand-off for the day, adding the conversion. Although the visitors replied with an unconverted try to trail by only two points at the interval, the result was scarcely in doubt as the second half unfolded. The powerful Byrne stretched Warrington’s lead with an early second half try and sealed victory with his second from a deft pass from fellow front rower Bennett. Presley added the conversion.
