Warrington 3rd 19 - Caldy 3rd 41

Warrington’s 3rd team recovered from the brink of what could have been a cataclysmic defeat, when they trailed 31-5 at half time, to out-score very strong opposition by 14-19 in the second period.

The Caldy side were virtually unstoppable in the first forty minutes and Warrington’s only reply to a 31 point blitz was a solitary Nicholson try. However, the old cliché of this being a game of two halves genuinely applied here. First Dave Nolan took a ball at a line out ten yards out and powered over. Presley added a superb conversion. McIlroy then put in an excellent break only for Caldy to infringe to the extent that a penalty try was awarded. Again Presley converted. Caldy replied with two unconverted tries but the second half, if not the game, truly belonged to Warrington.
